Principal Fire Safety Engineer
Location:
Reading / Basingstoke area
Salary: 58,500 - 92,000 per annum


We are seeking a Principal Fire Safety Engineer to lead a team of fire assessors and support the development of nuclear safety cases. This role offers a unique opportunity to tackle technical challenges across projects that range from the construction of new facilities to decommissioning older ones.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead fire safety assessments, develop fire strategies, and produce Fire Hazard Assessments for nuclear safety cases.
  • Collaborate with facility and project managers to deliver efficient, cost-effective fire engineering solutions.
  • Manage and guide a small team of fire assessors.
  • Engage with senior management and regulators on fire safety engineering matters.
  • Provide technical leadership on fire modelling, thermal properties, and design fire specifications.


Requirements:

  • Degree or postgraduate qualification in a science or engineering discipline.
  • Proven experience in fire safety and fire-engineered solutions.
  • Knowledge of UK fire safety legislation and fire engineering software.
  • Strong interpersonal, report writing, and presentation skills.


Desirable:

  • Chartered engineer status or working towards it.
  • Membership of IFireE (MIFireE) or similar professional body.
