Description: NWS are currently recruiting for 1 Cloud Platform Engineer!

This role will provides the technical ability for designing, developing, and maintaining cloud computing infrastructure. The key responsibilities include deploying, scaling, and securing cloud-based applications and services.

Job Specific
  • Design, develop, and deploy modular cloud-based systems, ensuring optimal performance, scalability, and security.
  • Design, implement and maintain the underlying cloud infrastructure, such as virtual machines, storage, and networking components.
  • Cloud Architecture, Design and structure cloud-based systems, components, and services.
  • Understand how to create effective data models to support reporting needs (e.g., using Power BI).
  • Data Analytics and Visualisation
  • Familiarize yourself with cloud-based data warehouses.
  • visualization tools Power BI.
  • Work on integrating cloud-based systems with existing on-premises infrastructure and ensuring seamless data transfer between the two environments.
  • Ensure efficient functioning of data storage and process functions in accordance with company security policies and best practices in cloud security.
  • Identify, analyse, and resolve infrastructure vulnerabilities and application deployment issues.
  • Regularly review existing systems and make recommendations for improvements.
  • Interact with clients, provide cloud support, and make recommendations based on client needs.
  • Specialise in implementing security measures and ensuring compliance with relevant regulations in the cloud environment.


Knowledge, Skills, and Competencies

Essential
  • Educated to degree level or equivalent experience.
  • Demonstratable experience in Cloud Operations (CloudOps) and DevOps.
  • Knowledge and experience of building pipelines, git, and operating systems
  • Experience in Infrastructure as Code technologies such as Azure Resource Manager (ARM) or equivalent public cloud IaC (Infrastructure as Code) technology.
  • Network Knowledge, required to configure and troubleshoot network components, familarity with VPC, Subnets, firewalls, IP addressing, DNS.
  • DevOps Practices, Cloud Engineers collaborate closely with DevOps teams. Skills in CI/CD pipelines, version control, and containerisation.
  • Security Awareness, Cloud security is critical. Cloud Engineers should understand encryption, and best practices for securing cloud resource.
  • Comfortable working in an agile delivery framework
  • Able to work under your own initiative on large scale technical challenges.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to engage technical and business stakeholders at all levels, as well as strong technical documentation skills.
  • Ability to hold a UK SC Clearance

Maintaining and developing this knowledge and experience is key to securing and developing our unique nuclear waste capabilities for the UK and the rest of the world
