Deliver innovative and safe geotechnical design solutions across high-impact water and rail infrastructure projects. Our client has a requirement for a Senior Geotechnical Design Engineer, who will be required to work on a contract basis in Manchester. Role Purpose: -
Deliver high-quality geotechnical and civil engineering design solutions within the water and rail sectors. -
Ensure compliance with safety, quality, and industry regulations across all design outputs. -
Support the successful execution of projects through expert technical input and leadership. Job Role Responsibilities: -
Produce detailed geotechnical and civil engineering design calculations and drawings. -
Prepare site investigation briefs, technical reports, and project specifications. -
Ensure design deliverables meet required safety, quality, and professional standards. -
Lead and mentor junior engineers, graduates, and CAD technicians. -
Conduct and contribute to formal design reviews, including IDC/KM7 meetings and technical presentations. -
Accurately estimate time and resources for design activities and deliverables. -
Implement and document changes to design packages in a structured manner. -
Collaborate effectively with multi-disciplinary teams to meet project milestones. Experience / Skills / Knowledge / Qualifications: -
Minimum 10 years of experience in geotechnical and/or civil engineering design. -
Strong background in geotechnics, including preparation of ground investigation specifications and interpretive reports. -
Degree or HND in Civil or Geotechnical Engineering (or equivalent). -
Proficient in relevant engineering design software and IT tools. -
Registered with a professional engineering body and actively pursuing chartership. -
Effective communication and presentation skills with a focus on results, quality, and safety. -
Committed to mentoring, collaboration, and continuous professional development. Preferred: -
Chartered Engineer status (advantageous but not essential). -
Experience in the water and/or rail sectors. -
Familiarity with construction methodologies, GI techniques, and regulated infrastructure environments (e.g., utilities, nuclear, highways). -
Knowledge of engineering drawing standards and multi-disciplinary design practices. Benefits: -
